        Get your cat converter checked out, and maybe check for missfires with a tech2 @ gm dealer

          Check the ECM that the coils sit on - it functions as the distributor in our cars & they are prone to fail under load. The coils are strong but the module isn't.

            If your tach jumps all over the place when it's missing, it's probably the ICM (under the coils). My last car did this, and it sounds similar to the problem you're having. Mine was also heat related, the problem really got bad when the engine was at operating temp.

                  obd 1 1/2? ;)

                  ECM = Electronic Control Module
                  ICM = Ignition Control Module

                  We already know its Electronic, duh.
