  • Thermo/Coolant temp gauge?

Got a few questions, would a bad coolant temp gauge cause the car to run rich at startup?
Someone told me they can go out and cause the car to pour more fuel in and make it run bad till it warms up..

Also what thermo temp gauge is recommended for these cars? I think I may have too low a temp cause it never gets about around 170-175 till summer and it tends to stay below 200 then.

    Thanks in advance!

the gauge itself? or do you mean the temp sensors? a bad temp sensor can make it run rich.

the stock thermo's are 210 or 220 if i remember right, so 170-200 is normal

More so the temp sensors yes.

My cars been running really cool as of late and takes forever to warm up and runs like crap at startup till it warms up.

It tends to stay right between or below the 160 and 210 mark right now in the cold.

thats pretty normal temps. so id doubt theres any thermostat issues.

as for it taking forever to heat up, when is the last time the coolant system was flushed? mine is so damn clogged right now i have NO heat, but its to damn cold to even screw with it right now here. i hate winter so much right now lol.

Mostly everything's new and been flushed over the past spring/summer.
Replaced radiator this past summer and a water pump, the summer before that so, I dont think its that unless it's in the heater core or somewhere else.

I hate winter too, Hence my thread in the FL section, lol.

If its taking a long time to warm up, it's the thermostat. it will still reach operating temperatures, it just takes alot longer.
