  • Bad lifter?

So my buddy has a 98 trans am auto well tonight we were out crusing and chasin down ricers and **** when starting ticking, checked oil just to see and it was fine. So we headed back to my house and as we're driving sometimes it ticks and sometimes not if we hit a bump it seems to stop and it dose not tick at idle but if it is a lifter shouldn't it tick all the time? Any in puts would be great. Thanks guys.

every morning when i go out and fird up my car it ticks for about 5 minutes then goes away. pretty much does that every time its started if it has sat for more than a couple hours. should i also be concerned? my mechanic says its ok, just the oil is at the bottom of the engine and it needs time to circulate. thoughts? also not trying to jack your thread man.

perhaps this is a job for seafoam?

i THINK lifter ticking goes away as the engine warms up.

No cause we sat in the walmart parking lot for like 2 hours letting the engine cool down, and as it warmed up the worst it got. Thats why we are not so sure if it actually a lifter or not.

its the writeup for an ls1 but its the same exact thing on a v6 if you have any questions pm me....if it doesnt work your out like 9 dollars maybe but it wont damage the car.

so the lifter tick goes away after the engines warms up so in my cases it should be the i do have and exhaust leak. is ticking a a common noise? i should have the tick in the manifold area were they connect to the exhaust pipe
