Re: 3.08 to 3.42 questions
I don't push the car as often as you guys do. But when I want it to go, it would be nice if it actually moved out. Switching to 3.73 is about 21% increase in rpm over 3.08, and probably an equal reduction in mpg. The 3.42 is about 11% increase, which is enough to make a measurable difference, without killing the mpg.
Combine that with some mods to the restrictive intake and exhaust and that should put me where I want to be.
So I better get the old Town Car detailed and put a 4 sale sign in it soon to raise some quick cash!
Maybe some guys who did gear changes can chime in with their performance improvements and mpg impacts?
