it doesn't LITERALLY add hp. the only person here who thinks that it does it brad palmer. it multiplies torque, and since hp is directly related to torque, it kinda does when the torque converter is slipping, but in reality, it doesn't add anything.

The only time a converter is really adding torque or multiplying anything is when you flash it.. off the line. From a roll it hurts you more than it helps (effeciency wise)... however because you may be at a higher RPM than a car equal to yours with stock verter or even a clutch you may be faster...

say your at 4500 RPM's where as he is at 3500 RPM's.. you're making maybe 180rwhp where as he may be making 140 at that RPM.. even with 15% more drivetrain loss you're still at 153 HP. BTW these specs and #'s are fictitious and only made up for example purposes. Don't quote me on this please.

quote:
You will see some hp & torque gain, but nothing close to 40hp. More like 10-20 tq over the entire powerband. Max hp & tq might not even change, but the curves the dyno reads should be much better before the max.

You will see ZERO hp or torque gain from a torque converter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!did ya'll ever have those capsela water toys when yall were little? w/o that little torque converter the prop would spin way faster but it wouldnt go near as fast as with the converter...also how can you gain horsepower or torque from the drivetrain???? you cant!!! its kinda like in a M-5 leaving at 2k off the line compared to 3k off the line, if you hook 3k will run faster! your just leavin the line higher in the power band...!
