Hello All! I'm picking up a red 1996 Firebird tomorrow that has a slipping clutch. The thing I find strange is that there is no noise or vibration from it, and all the gears go right in, moving or not. Clutch operation is very smooth, but you let it out and it doesn't feel like it's all engaged. What do you all think? It has 150,000 on it so it's likely time for a new clutch, but it's not like it even has an oil leak and it's bone stock.

Buying a stock car is the best way to go. It would more likely mean that it wasn't abuse like the modded ones.

Good luck on changing the clutch.

Thanks! Probably gonna let a shop do it this time because of time constraints, but it doesn't seem that bad a job.

Absolutely - you MUST replace the slave cylinder when you replace the clutch.

            Preventive Maintenance.

Replaced mine twice also - BECAUSE I didn't replace the slave the first time.

Already in the plan...kinda have a suspicion that might be part of the problem

Got the car home! The clutch slips pretty bad but it drives nice otherwise. I'll post some pictures when I can
