Do Motives have any issues with noise or whining, even when properly set up? I thought there was a brand of gears out there that had issues.

Supposedly Richmond gears have a tendency to whine a little, even with the proper backlash. But I don't think it's going to be anything particularly noticeable.

I have a set of Motive 3.42s in my car that only have a barely noticeable hum at certain speeds, but that's because of how the backlash is set. Either way, it's nothing worth worrying over and turning on the radio on even the lowest setting drowns it out.

Okay so the 3.73's are Precision Gear and He is offering to install them for me, apparently has been a mechanic and this aero space for 25 years and has done this install on his car previously.. so not sure if i should just buy the parts and get it installed some where else or take the gamble of letting him do it..?
