Need help with heads ASAP

so after looking and looking for a pair of heads i finally bought a pair of a 2000 camaro for my 97. according to what i knew or tought i knew 97-02 where the same engine right. i took the heads to the mechanic he said there not the same heads, he said somethign about that the fuel injerctor dont go there or some bull like that . i whent to autozone and ask if they were interchangable he said yes it should be the same thing. so my question is are the heads the same or is the mechanic full of s#@t or im a i the one whos wrong.

FWD heads have spots for the fuel injectors, RWD don't since our injectors go into the intake manifold instead. Other than that they are the same heads.

If you can plug those bosses then they would function exactly the same. It kinda sounds like the "Camaro" you got them off out wasn't a Camaro, more likely a fwd like a Grand Prix.

^^X2 , also it is 96-02 3.8 Camaro or Pontiac heads that are the same.

Well they definitely look nothing like the heads I have..

They also have the fuel injector bosses in the heads too.. The FWD heads have the intake ports separated like that? L36 heads have all 3 intake ports spaced evenly.

Wrong heads, return them.
I think those might actually be ford 3.8L heads.

yea those are not 3.8l Series II GM heads at all

that sucks i have a set that are ported and polished that need to be remachined (sat out in the rain one night thanks to roommates moving things around) that is if you can get your money back for these completely wrong heads

well they will need to be re machined ie: decked and guides well possibly guides and you will want to take a sand roll or something to take the surface rust off the chambers but they flow 235 intake 205 exhaust if i recall the super flow at 28" of vacuum but they sit there now since i have better heads on my car now 100 plus shipping seems fair

oh and only one head was in the rain the other is fine but i will look at them here in a few minutes and check them over and see what they need

not bad i paid 90 bills for the wrong heads hahahaha, so only one was in the rain the other is fine right? so what would be the advantaged of ported and polish heads?
