  • What does tuning mean?

MY friend has a V6 Mustang and he said he just had it tuned and it amped up his horsepower.
Another friend told me he knows a guy who tunes strictly camaros and would do mine.

What does he mean by this? And how much does it cost and how much HP would you get from it?

    thanks!

timing, shift points, torque management, etc. is all played with through the computer in your car. They use laptops and programs like hptuners to tune the pcm in your car

In my opinion it means using something like Hp tuner to mess with the cars PCM. Cost on it is 500 bills. Hp depends on supporting mods made to the car.

not 500 bucks if you have a mail order tune or a buddy tune it. It is 500 to purchase the software yourself

Yeah what I meant is only hp tunes going at it alone. Mail orders are less than $150 I think

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
