98 and 96 engine swap

When I go to rebuild an engine to swap into my 96 firebird 3.8, do I have to have a 96-97 3.8 or will 96-02 3.8's work. My real concern is the throttle body, since 98+ has the straight and pre 98 is angled. Thanks for any help

98 is also angled - 99+ is straight.

so does anyone know if I can have an engine that has a straight tb on it and attach an angled tb to the intake?
