  • V6 toV8 swap

Ok heres the deal, I have a 350 from a chevelle (not sure on year). My father and I were talking about how to go about swapping it in. It sounds like alot of work. My question is what all would I have to do? About how much is it going to cost. All I know about the engine is it is bored 90 over, has a 1000cfm carb, long duration cam and has performance pistons and, hydrolic lifters and rocker arms. My dad gave it to me on X-mas and said it was very powerful.

Sounds like a great engine, and you can swap it in, but you'll need to fabricate all the old style stuff for it - like non PCM controlled gauges.

I would instead find me a good chassis for that car and put it in something else, it will make things a lot easier.

Yea, that engine (which is a gen 1 block) would be better in something else. If I were doing a SBC 350 in a 4th gen F-body I would hunt for a gen 2 block engine and do some sort of fule injection setup.

that carb may be too big for that engine.

Thanks, I just found a 1970 camaro w/o an engine in mint cond. minus some paint for 4500. Oh the carb is fine we've never had a prob with it.

Is it easier to swap in a carb'd motor or fuel injected?- if the current set up is FI?
