• best way to get hp and torqu for my v6 camaro

ok heres the scoop i love my 2001 v6 camaro and had to work my *** off to finally get one.
Now that i do i have been hearing there is no hope to makeing my car faster than it is... is this true?
If not(which by the look of things from this place i will be able to)i would like insight from people i need names of parts where i can get them and which ones to put in first and as of this moment i have 5000 dollars to blow on the car so money isn't the biggest consern and the car already has a custom exhaust from the headers to the tips
thanks to all that help

$3000 - turbo
$1000 - rebuilt rearend with gears/ posi
$300 - send PCM to be tuned

save the rest to put towards the tranny you will eventually destroy.

Well you have $500 bucks. Get a cold air intake for about $200 ( A nice one ) Then, well actually, I shoulda said first make sure your car is properly tuned before you spend money on performance parts. But if it is ready to be suped up, the Cold air intake would be the perfect thing to get since you have a full exhaust. Then, I'd say maybe look into getting a performance flywheel installed...help the engine rev quicker.

Money. The list goes on and on but, it depends on how much money you want to spend. This shouldn't be in advanced tech. Speed cost money how fast do you wanna go?

CAI, New Air lid, cam and valvtrain, P&P, beaf up tranny for future mods so you dont f- it up after you spend 4 grand on a FI system only to blow the tranny and have car sit.

would you need to beef up a tranny on an automatic?

I blew my tranny NA, Thats why I got rid of it. The PI VIG converter and the MT ET streets didn't do to good for the tranny, that was about the only thing that wasn't built. The weakest link always breaks first. I had the converter, drive shaft and a built rear but not the whole tranny. A shift kit, rebuild (better bands.clutches ect) and a new TC.

trannies dont last forever in our cars even in stock form. I bought mine at 60k (still stock), didnt do anything other than intake/exhaust, didnt drive hard and still replaced the tranny at 75K.

well if u plan to go pretty fast with a supercharger or turbo u mitght consider building up your brakes and suspension first, no sense adding power if u cant put it to the ground or stop.

its true turboing is the most efficient-grand national makes a twin turbo that adds 200hp i think

but like ellik's situation stock parts cant handle too much of an increase of power-if u cant wait i suggest putting a low psi supercharger

like i said in my original question i have 5000 dollars to spend but i guess i didn't say this i have all the time in the world i am only 18 and i am willing to wait for power and buld up my car's other parts to handle the power gains.
i want fast and reliable no matter really how long it takes

intake, exhaust/headers/cat, suspension (LCAs, pan hard rod, maybe sub frame connectors and sway bars), LSD with 3.42/3.73 gear ratio upgrade, forged/P&P internals, power adder (nitrous for just track or "flip of the switch" power or boost for constant power), custom PCM programming for all upgrades..may run you over $5K ..i personally have about $10K - $15K into mine..but i've been through a lot of "show" stuff too..there ya have it

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
