Ok, so my hopes of swapping in a LS1 were almost realized... '00 TA engine for $2000, 10000 miles on it, but was told I can't do it...

So, instead I plan on working through the engine I've got and see what its "got"

First step, replace cam. But what else is involved in this? Going to need to do what else? Friend of mine at work suggested that I have it bored 30 over and replace the cam, but anyways, is this a good plan and what kinda gains could I be looking at?

And if this kind of topic is supposed to be here, feel free let me know. Thanks

from what i was told by the person i talked to at wiseco about forged pistons he said when you bore out the v6 its measured in millimeters not inches. so a .030 over bore wouldn't be right. just convert it to mm

Size is size, whether it in inches or mm. Rebuild the motor stronger, go high with the compression, get the heads worked on as much as possible, and go with a huge cam.

About the engine swap, I was told by a mechanic that NC has passed a law that says that you have to replace an engine with one that is the same size, so if I take out a v6 I have to put in another v6. He said that if I were to drop in the 8 that I wouldn't be able to get inspected and some other crap that would get my insurance rate changed. Dunno if its true or not, but I figured might as well work with what I've got considering the car is paid for and I've put some stuff into already
