  • Oil Pressure sound, revisited.

Alright, so if any of you read my last thread about the sounds at start-up, this is the same deal. Except now it never goes away. I've got videos coming... one idle one driving. I say it in one of the videos, but just to restate, IT IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCESSORY BELT. The belt is off for the video where I say that. I know it is -DIRECTLY- related to the oil pressure. It only started today. Oil pressure has been slowly dropping from about 70 a week ago, to now struggling to keep above 10...

Any help will be ****ing awesome. This is annoying as hell.

I added some oil stabilizer and now its gone... completely fine. 100% normal. This is blowing my mind.

Did your pressure return or is it still hanging down around 10psi?

After watching the second video i'm wondering if maybe your oil pump is screwed. I've never seen oil PSI fluctuate without good reason.

No. Pressure is consistent at 65

Another thing... I got a low oil light, checked it and it barely read. Put in ONE quart, and now its like 2" past full ok the dipstick..

But why did it go from like 1 qt to over 4.5qts when I added one? 1+1=>4.5?

the dipstick only shows one quart of oil, if the oil is at the very bottom of the dipstick, one quart will bring it up to the top.

yup, the four holes in the dipstick generally represent 1 quart, so if the oil level comes up to the second hole, you are about 1/2 quart low

Hmm :/ It started again today. How hard is it to change an oil pump? I know its not easy by any stretch. I just wanna get it done. It's somewhere in the oil pan right?

The oil pump is part of the front cover.

Huzzah. For once the Chilton manual tells me what to do.

no the oil pump is on the front of the engine driven by the timing chain
