• What Oil & Filter You Use?

I use Castrol GTX 10W30 oil & the FRAM PH3980 with the black Sure Grip surface for my 3.1 V6 '91 Firebird. My odometer past 260,000 miles and the engine has been totally trouble free but lately I been reading how many people do not use Fram and use AC Delco instead. Maybe you guys are using a different oil / filter combo that may be beneficial? With such high mileage, my local Pontiac dealer wants to take my picture next to my car on the Hall of Fame board in their waiting room .

I've been using Walmart brand filters and oil (Supertech). I change the oil and filter once a month.

I always use Mobil 1 with either an AC Delco or Fram filter. I used that on my last car and got 293,000 miles when I traded it in on the firebird. Engine still ran great, but the rest of the car was falling apart. It was an 87 Cavalier. Only engine problem was a headgasket at 250K miles. When I tore into the engine there was not one speck of sludge anywhere, it was as clean as brand-new.

I use AC Delco PF52 on all my cars for a while, the v-ate takes a different one, and use Valvoline max life in the blazer, & durablend in the GP & bird.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
