  • a question about the slp cai

    for those of you that have seen the slp cai, its got an airbox that looks like it seals off with an opening to the inner fender. i've got a cylindrical thing in the way of this.it has some wires plugged into it, and i was wondering what
    in the h*** it is, and how does the slp system work around it? do they have you relocate it? if so, where? any replies are appreciated.

    Yes, you will actually have to remove the stock air cannister to make room for a cold air intake. It's not an slp, but take a look at this picture on this page to give you an idea about where the cai is installed:

    It's been awhile since I installed the intake, but if I remember correctly, you just unscrew the top of the cannister as if you were going to change your air filter, and it should lift right up.

    The wire connected to it is for the air sensor. The wire should unclip from the sensor so you can remove the cannister. Then you can pop out the sensor, install it on your new intake and clip it back in.

      oh man, sorry about that. i must have made it unclear because i was talking about that thing to the left of your k&n in the picture. i wanted to see if i could make some sort of home depot ducting that would route air from under the car(run it through that opening in the inner fender) and connect it with the stock canister to produce a ram-air effect, and that thing is in the way. i wasn't talking about the canister itself. i mentioned the slp intake because it seems to have a box that seals with this opening, and that cylindrical thing is just in the way...i was wondering how they work around it.

        You must be thinking of your birds purge canister, located next to the cars air canister. I don't know of any way to reroute that item, as you may hurt your cars cooling system. I
