  • Going to Atco on April 20th !!!

yay...going to track on next thursday...first time since i bought it ....i have a few questions about what should i do...here's what i have done or what came installed ...

*y87 from factory lsd +3:42s (atleast that's what previous owner told me !)

    *slp manual fan switch

    * Austin SS ram air intake.

*Front tire pressure 36, rears 28

*2-3 gallons of gasoline atleast 93 ( or should i put 94? i can but then i think that it might not be as fresh)

*Ok now what else? i am mechanically inclined so, belt mod or open header no good for me....tell me some more tips and tricks....

very IMPORTANT....on a automatic, how can i launch d or d4 or 1-d4 (manually)? what are the lauching technique??i think my lauching sucks? thanks

but if i put my car on drive and brake at the same, then rev it up to 2-3k , my rear wheels gonna be spinning like a crazy...it's like burnout....???? ..did i missed something??

no not really. theoretically it could but not at that low of an RPM. if you rev it up higher than yes it will be like doing a burnout but at that low of an RPM your tires will not break loose. your car will be trying to move forward and your brakes are holding it in place. so when the light turns and you let off the brake its like launching in a manual car

Well, I would guess you have an auto.... so you can probably bring the rpm's to about 2,000 before the tires spin.

If you had a manual you could go higher.

By raising the rpm at the starting line you bring the vehicle a little bit closer to its power band.

          Does that explain it?

BTW, come to e town this saturday.... f body vs stangs!

Getting better launches from practicing yet? I used the same technique when I was practicing. I didn't slam the gas the same time I let off the brake because my tires would spin.

                  Well.... regarding practice....

                  Learning to read the track
Learning how tire psi front and rear affects traction
                  Learning deep vs. shallow staging
Learning how different rpm launches work best for your car
Learning how to keep a certain rpm at the line and floor it when it goes green and dead hook.

                  Lots to learn there

James pretty much said it. It will take awhile for you to learn your car...

                        Deep vs. Shallow staging:

Deep stage: to roll a few inches farther into the beams after staging, which causes the pre-stage lights to go out. In that position, a driver is closer to the finish line but dangerously close to a foul start.

Shallow stage: just trip the second set of yellow lights.... and give you more roll out distance (aka a little bit of a run to get going) thus can give slightly better ET's
