Re: so i'm on my way home from band practice...

yeah so one day i had my tops out in the morning, but it started to rain and i put them back in and rolled up the windows. when i got back to my house a few hours later, i looked up for some reason and realized they were both still unlocked. i think me havening the windows up saved me.

sucks to here man, it should not be too hard to find another one at a junk yard, i know when i went to my local one here a few weeks back they had like 2 t-tops cars just sitting there with no engines. and the good tihng about junk yards is that you can probably negociate the price down. (if your good at that sort of thing)

ehh... I never locked mine, just got in the habit of everytime I put them back on I would give them a "tap" up to make sure they were in place.

As for new ones, better off with message boards and ebay... I had a couple spares when I did the conversion I made a KILLING selling them to people locally who lost them.

i bought them from prices ranging from $25-70, and sold them for $75-125....

I think dealer sells them for ~$400, and the junkyards were selling them for $350 because they knew what they had and no on in FL wants a hole in their roof so they would pay it at junkyards.

Don't worry you're not alone. Same thing happend to me before going 65 doing the highway about 2 years ago. I was lucky though, my top landed in some soft grass without any damages. This has happened to other people as well on here.

            :)

And some of this cut a hole in a perfectuly good roof to get them. Once you take the plast trip apart and see how they look, just adjust the recievers and make sure they are alinged right. If you don't have the t-top in place and force the handle just once you might bend the reciever and might give you issues.

I can't say I ever watched a T-Top fly away. I'm pretty anal about making sure I lock those bad boys down. I don't lock em though.

The closest thing I ever had leave my vehicle was the rusty *** Flowmaster that launched from my truck while doing 70 on the highway. The interior and exterior welds broke and it slid right off the pipe (Go Flowmaster... love ya). That thing hit the ground, popped up in the air and was flying at people's windshields. Scary as hell watching all the cars behind me trying to avoid it. Luckily, it didn't hit anyone and nobody hit anyone else.

lol I lsot a ttop on the highway. I was goin about 80 and it just flew off. My little brother drove it the day before and took them out since it was nice. I told him to go put them back in b/c it was about to rain that night. Well needless to say, he didn't lock either one of them in place (being how lazy he is). That was an expensive fix for him ;)
