  • Firebird will be alive soon...

After nearly 2 years and untold troubles, I bit the bullet. Bought a junkyard engine and am having it installed. $1700 out the door installed for an 01 engine with 44k miles. Gonna be weird driving that beast again...

I hope it's as fast as it was before. 14.60 with intake/muffler.

Re: Firebird will be alive soon...

congratulations its going to feel GOOD driving it again. i bought an engine and tranny with 60k or so miles for $300 and installed it with some help for FREE. not to mention it was serviced by GM GOODWRENCH. i say mod it while the engines out! or paint it at least!

Re: Firebird will be alive soon...

No weight reduction, no mods, nada. It's gonna suck to have to drive it again, but it's transport until I get a few things figured out. $600 for the engine, $100 for the tow, $900 for the install, plus tax and incidentals. Wish I would have done it myself sooner, but I had the GTO and didn't really care about doing anything with the firebird.

Yeah, stock weight. The car was always a monster. I went 14.80's within 2 months of owning it. Guess it was just a good car. high 13's cam only, mid 11's on the hose.

well if you were running mid 11s, you would hold the street legal f-body record..unless you meant mid 12s..

Some people don't care about internet infamy. I have pics of the car yanking the tires, on the street. I was all about street racing at the time, so posting times and videos wasn't gonna help me hustle. FWIW, Magnus went low 12's with the same cam and a 100 shot. I shot over 175. I only bought my Formula, because too many people knew my car and wouldn't race it anymore.
