    Re: Junk Yard Treasures?

there isn't much that hasn't already been covered...

    sway bars...
    -93-97 had 30/17 combo
    -98-02 had 28/15 combo
    -Z28 have 30/19 combo
-1Le and cars with 1le parts have 32/21mm(you will likely never come across this in a junkyard) People that had these cars usually parted them out.

    exhaust
-stock z28 catback, has dual mufflers and a bigger I-pipe
    -tubular manifolds from I think 99-02 v6s

    brakes
    98+ brakes are bigger/better

    Rear ends
-LSD, both auburn and zexels out there.
-upgrade to as high as 3.42 gears

    wheels
-but most junkyards rape you for nice factory wheels(like $500 for a set of camaro 5-spokes without tires)

    T-tops
-4th gen t-tops are expensive at junkyards, I have seen from $200-450 for 1 t-tops.

I bought 4 t-tops for less then $200 for all of them from guys parting out.

    Driveshafts
1 piece steel on lt1s, and some ls1s(upgrade over 2 piece)
1 piece aluminum ones as well...

As for shocks? I wouldn't touch them. Wouldn't really trust a set of f-body shocks with more then 35k on them. Especially the work needed to do the fronts.

It's not that they're bigger, it's a different design which is more effective at stopping and easier to perform maintenance on

All LS1 f-bodies have an aluminum DS stock

not all ls1 f-bodies... they are rare but some came with steel, I think they were 98s only. Only reason I know this is there were several arguments on a couple ls1 guys selling steel driveshafts and people saying that all were aluminum. They were not.

          Re: Junk Yard Treasures?

Eric has a pretty good list here. The truth is you will be lucky if you find upgrades in most cases. With that said I still find running through salvage yards fun and I imagine most people on this board would too.
