That is horrible...My dad always makes me do it myself, says it saves money and i get the knowledge. Now I'm sure I know why I should never go to one of those places, ever.

And you're the last person to be making fun of other's stupidity, but that hasn't stopped you. When have my actions potentially cost people their jobs? Granted, those firestone employees probably weren't the sharpest crayons in the box, but all that needs to be done on the end of the customer is to simply stop bringing their car there.

            Re: Stupid Technician

To set the record straight, I am quite sure the head b1tch in charge there knew what scam to pull on me when he recited the 8th letter on my VIN code as a "High Output" motor and thought I was stupid enough not to realize that. My point was that a particular few shops will play you for stupid if you are not knowledgeable about your own pride and joy. Armed with knowledge, you can see how your technician will interact with you and your wallet. Simple.

Yes, I do write to companies who do not cater to the customer. They are in business to attract customers with their professionalism and services. If they don't deliver then they don't get my money or my word to my friends on corrupt business tactics. I have received many freebies or deep discounts from companies such as airlines, restaurants and aftermarket auto specialty businesses who didn't meet my satisfaction. The Jiffy Lube video is a reminder why certain people don't give a damn but to collect a paycheck and mess with innocent people who aren't gearheads like us. Shame on them, they deserved to be busted lol. End of my rant.

and what scam would that be...? Was Firestone gonna pull the wool over your eyes and sell you some V8 rotors? Or charge you for a High Output alignment?
From what little i could extrapolate from your post, it sounds like the person was just trying to make small talk...Like I've said, plenty of people have called my car a Trans Am. All I did was politely correct them, and then that usually followed by "Why'd you buy a V6?" or "That thing sounds good for a V6...what's done to it?"
Now, if he went on to try and sell you something based on the "high output" reasoning, then I would agree that he was trying to scam you...but, it sounds like you jumped down his throat as soon as he uttered that misnomer, but we'll never know.

The only knowledge you need is to pay them for what you bring the car in for. If they don't do that, then bust their balls...otherwise, it's on you to walk out of the store.

oh, so that day you brought your car in to have them recite the 8th letter of your VIN number and give it's meaning? If that's the case, I completely understand you sh1tting a brick over that and wanting the store shut down.

If there's a part-time employed kid behind the times I bring my car to get tires mounted/aligned(and that's the only time I will ever have a "professional" shop work on my car), they always, without fail, recommend that I get a full diagnostic and tune-up and the name of a shop that could do it...Do I cuss the kid out? Do I call up the Better Business Bureau? Do I punch them in the face for trying to scam me? No, because there's a significant chance that s/he's never heard a cammed car before and doesn't know that lope is harmless. It's because of cases like that that I just make a mental note of said company, leave the store/premesis, tell my friends and family, and just move on. Just because someone has a shirt of an auto. garage on doesn't make them master mechanics, so I don't hold them to that standard if I'm not paying them to do so.

                Re: Stupid Technician

I have to agree with Fireball27 that you take some things too personally. Geez, don't get flustered over my event that happened many years ago and still happens obviously today.

We all learn from our mistakes and I was simply telling an event that occurred in my 3rd Gen years. Yes, I was 16 at the time and Firestone existed too lol.

I will stand on my beliefs that certain few shady shop owners still charge extra on unnecessary repairs to make an extra buck to cover their start-up franchisee costs. That, my fellow V6'r, you cannot argue.

Please calm down and check out some chicks at a beach. Have a nice day man :o  wow...

I'm not flustered, I'm curious. I'm curious as to what scam they were trying to pull. I'm curious as to why your sacred 8th letter misnomer was something to get scared about. The best way to eliminate curiosity is to ask questions, but none of which you answered directly.
But, it doesn't matter since I can extrapolate the answers I want from your last post.
