Just got done pulling the head

Well i pulled my pass side head in exactly 2 hrs, def a new best for me, but judging it was the 7th-8th time, not so glorious. Anyways i get the head off and first thing i notice is shavings in cylinder 6....great.

well i check out the piston and it appears to be just fine, there are shavings on the cylinder head around the exhaust valve.....also inside the header is a redish milky kinda substance coming off cylinder 6 exhaust valve.

so im at a loss, i dont see any visible cracks in the head, and the cylinder appears to be fine, I will snap some pics before i head home for you guys, bottom line lets hear some suggestions before i drop it off for magnafluxing tomorrow.

Metal shavings, but the piston is ok? Red milky substance? Wierd.

hows the cylinder walls look in that bore?

what kind of coolant are you running?

im at a loss of what it could be right now, but ill keep thinking.

Maybe the shavings came from one of the valves?

What did the spark plug look like?

plugs were pretty dark, and when i put them back in for the second time, the were light gray, so in the 20 sec my car ran, they turned pretty dark....pics are uploading

The first pic (inside of the header) looks like coolant once its been burned.

that red **** looks like coolant. reminds me of the 2.8 I tore down in the bird when I first got it. what did teh head gasket look like?

The pic of the header looks copper like to me. Either copper spray or copper rtv getting in the header somehow. But showdown could be right, never saw what burnt coolant looked like.

I assume you are using MLS headgaskets? If it blew, that could be the
source of the metal shavings.

the crap in the header looks EXACTLY like copper gasket.

the pic shows the MLS gastket, and its just fine.
