Man, I would be severely pissed if I had to change plus and wires again. I just did them 2 weeks ago. Bran new NGK and Taylor... AF is going to pay for this.

I use whatever gas is on sale.

Been doing it since 1967 and have had no problems, yet.

Well I finally had a chance to work on the car (I have been working 12+ hrs a day and it has been raining like crazy). I pulled out the spark plug from #3 and the tip was black. Pretty much cooked. So now I am looking around at the local parts stores and not one has the NGK 55. So the car will be down until I can get over to an (don't laugh) import performance shop and pick one up. If that doesnt fix the problem I will go to the coil packs.

</font>[/QUOTE]Shell and Texaco had a joint venture in selling gasoline, but with the merger of Chevron and Texaco Shell got all the gas stations. Shell is also with Royal Dutch... so they arent alone. Still smaller then BP and ExxonMobil

most name brand gasolines are going to work fine in your engine. the biggest difference between them would probably be the 'local station' problem. you have no idea what condition the underground tanks are in. if you find a local gas station that seems fine stick with it (try to one that is moving large volumes so that the tanks dont have time to build up dirt/sludge/water). i generally frequent two stations (one on each side of the highway so i dont have to cross traffic).

i am fairly certain mobil and exxon are still different. the old dakota was 'sensitive' and would ping/knock on exxon but not mobil (same octane).

My car has about 25,800 miles on it. Two weeks ago as I was driving to work, the SES light came on and stayed on. Didn't flash or anything. Took it in to the dealer shop and they said they found the problem and could fix it for $65 plus labor. I asked them what was wrong --- FUEL FILTER CLOGGED!!! Needless to say I picked up my car and changed it myself.

Next day I put higher octane gas from 7-11 and STP octane booster/fuel injector cleaner and the Bird ran great. After that tank of gas ran out -- I went back to using the lower octane gas from 7-11 without the octane booster and car ran crappy.

In my Bird I run Silver Grade from BP. Not one problem since my first fill-up with this Gas since January of 2003.

Well I was able to find a local shop that had NGK TR55 plugs and swapped out the #3 plug. Drove it for a little while afterwards. Still a little sluggish, SES light (not blinking), but quieter. After about a total of 15 minutes driving everything cleaned itself up. SES light is gone, acceleration is back, and idle is smooth. Looks pretty good, let's just see if everything holds up.
