Trying to remove the e-brake cable to replace it with one for disc brakes. I have the old cables out of the equalizer, but I am not clear on how the retainer clips work. My factory service manual says to use tool J 37043, but I'm having trouble tracking such beast down.
Exactly how does this retainer work, what is the tool, and what can I use in place of it?

I found a generic tool at an auto parts store. Popped the suckers right out.
Dang dude, 6 weeks? We've dropped the rear to the ground and pulled it from under the car, worked on everything, and reinstalled everything in a days work.

It took 2 evenings to get everything un bolted and lower the rear end (about 4 hours total or so). Then I went on the quest to find a donor rear and I was in no real hurry. Once I bought that I decided to lower car and replace shocks. I researched for the cheapest place to get those parts, that was a day. And yada yada yada. I've been in no hurry and paying for everything with real money and not credit cards has taken a little bit of time also. At the moment shocks are on back order from Bilstein and I'm waiting on my SS brake lines, so I'm in a holding pattern anyways. I still need to get adjustable LCA's, relocation brackets, adjustable panhard bar, new endlinks and bushings, new rear sway bar (one that came with new rear end was corroded on end) and paint the calipers that I got the other day. If I had all parts and I wanted/needed to endure the heat it could be done but thankfully I can take my time and get all parts I want before installing stuff. O yeah, I'm about 85% done sanding new rear but still need to paint it also. Then order new diff cover.
