Searched but couldnt find anything on this.

In my 94 3.4 i have red power steering fluid. I was thinking it needed a change or a flush or something, since i have not changed it since i have had my car and only topped it off. When i went to buy PS fluid i noticed it was clear instead of my red. Its called Pyroil PS fluid. It says it meets GM part number on the back of the bottle so i figured it was good. Bought that at kragen.

I wanted to try the method of cleaning my PS fluid and brake fluid by just sucking out as much as i can get out of the resovoirs with a baster and then putting new fluid in, running it, and repeated many times.

Is it a bad idea to do this by changing colors and mixing the PS fluids. The new brake fluid is clear as well as my current color BF.

I would appreciate a post reply back soon becuase i really want to try and do this while i have time today.

The PS fluid I don't know about. but the Brake fluid you could just bleed the brakes through the calipers rearpass>reardriver>frontpass>then frontdriver. Just keep filling the reservoir with new break fluid, making sure not to let it get too low.

      Pyroil is Valvoline.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as the existing PS fluid also meets GM specs, which you don't know for sure. I changed my PS fluid by pumping out the PS resevoir and refilling it each Saturady for several weeks. I had no clue what was in the PS system.

well im gunna go ahead and start taking the fluid out every week of the resevoir and filling it back up with clean fresh fluid.

How many times do u guys think it will take to fully replace all the fluid from the PS?

I was think i would drain and refill the PS resevoir 1-2 times per week for the next month or so....

Just a quick note, someone did oyur ps flush themselves and instead of using ps fluid, they used tranny fluid. It's not biggie, but probably a good thing you are changing it out. The tranny fluid being in there puts more stress on the ps pump, since it doens't flow as well and has different heat properties. I'm not sayign it will hurt it, but it's not the right fluid. Also, pyroil is good ps fluid, I use it in my car and have no problems :)

yea you should be perfectly fine. A lot of cars come with atf as their ps fluid, so it wont hurt having it in there. Switching it out would be a good idea though
