  • squeaky rearend...still

i'm getting so pissed at this car. for weeks i have been battling this car. this is my 3rd post on this subject. i still have a nasty squeak coming from the rearend and it's getting worse.

i have checked the hatch, lower control arms, swaybars. i put new shocks in and it still sweaks.

it's very high pitched sound. i'm thinking i need new sway bars or the bushing in my panhard rod need to be grease.

so i'm thinking, when i get my new 1le sway bars, i'm going to grease everything, tighen everything to factory specs and grease everything. i'm also going to wrap my exhaust with thermo-tec. if that doesn't fix it, then i'm lost..

Don't know. I was waiting to see if the extra grease helped... Could be where your springs mount. If you spray any lube on, don't use wd40 because it will just wash off any grease you had. You could spray some white lithium on, it's the same stuff used for the door hinges, and it's waterproof, comes in a spray can. You could do a couple quick hits with that and see if the squeak goes away. Can you bounce the car and hear it while you're sitting still? If it's only when rolling, could be the brakes.

Please do not use thermo tec for the exhaust.
I wrapped my headers and y pipe at one point in time. 1 month later the car caught on fire.
I have spoken to other f body owners who had the same prob.
As for the squeaks, lube everything!!!!
I get lots of squeaks and rattles with all the poly bushing I have, lube everything often

If pushing down on the car makes the sound, then you can definitely eliminate the brakes as the cause. You could possibly get up under there and hear where the sound is coming from, by pushing up on the car, or having someone push down on it. (if you have it on ramps, or stands under the axle)

I don't know about the "how often" yet. I got my 1LE sway bars a couple of weeks ago. The rear started making some noise 2 days later... I haven't tried shooting any white lithium in them yet. I figure it is the end links, because I lubed the heck out of the bar bushings (and they had ribs in them, and I filled those up). The end links didn't get much lube, plus there was no place to hold extra.

I originally greased up my poly endlinks and bushings. They never made noise. Since then I have taken off the bar a few times and dind't bother to regrease. Still no noises. You can tell if it's poly making noise. It will sound like soft thuds when going over potholes.
