  • What size tires should I get?

Im getting the chrome y2k corvette rims (17x8.5) The guy at my local tire shop said I should get 275/40/r17 kumhos. Will this work or what size should I get? Will I have any clearance issues, and will this affect my speedometer?
    Thanks for the info.

275s are too wide for 8.5" wheel. You should go with anything between a 235 to 255. I recommend 245 or 255

Kumhos are good tires. I have them. The ultimate best tires are The new BFG G-Forces, but they are pricey. I have 275/40 17s on my car, and i have 17X9 wheels. They fit perfectly. 17x8.5 shoudl fit decently. The are the same height as you stock tires, just the opening for the wheel is bigger, and they are wider (of course), So they won't affect your speedo or anything like that. The clear everything fine. In fact im getting ready to stry some 295/40s for the heck of it (got 2 michelins pilots free) Definatley don't waste your money and do the 275s

Yea, his clearance shouldn't be a problem as long as he goes with a 40 series tire. 275s will fit, but they look better on a 9-10" wheel like yours AZ.
