tire size question

what size tire would fit 18X8 wheels and not interfere w/ my spedometer reading too much. just wondering b/c i have four brand new 18" Eagle Type 077's sitting in my kitchen w/ no tires. [img]graemlins/crybaby.gif[/img]

I think that you'll have speedo problems with the 18's PERIOD!! Just get the lowest profile you can geat wawy with and it should be minimal. Something like 245/40 or 245/35's. Those can get really expensive though!!

Im using 255-35-18s on my car and I put it up next to my stock wheels(235-55-16). The 18s are about an inch lower believe it or not. My tires cost around 150 bucks each from www.discounttiredirect.com

The 235/55-16 diameter in mm is about:

16X25.4 + 235X.55X2 (sidewalls) = 406.4 + 258.4 = 664.8mm

The 255/35-18s are:

18X25.4 + 255X.35X2 = 457.2 + 178.5 = 635.2mm

Yep, about an inch and a quarter smaller.

You can run calculations like this or go to the tire manufacturers website and get the diameter for the stock tires and the tires you're interested in. That is more accurate, since the numbers are approximate.

8" Wheel, max width = 255.

Proper series for an 18" = P255/40R18

All tires in that size are outrageously priced though, I personally wouldn't go past 17" since 18"+ tires are so expensive!

P275/40R17s are still the best option IMO.

It depends on the tire you get for it. Don't get anything higher than a 45 series tire for your car. I have my car lowered and it only rubs in the rear when I'm hitting dips in the road.
