Ok, I've driving around in my 94 Bird with suspension by Radio Flyer for about 9 months now and it's wearin me out. There is a popping noise coming from the front left near the top of the strut tower, I guess where the strut bolts on. I just got it back from a local shop and he said it was a bearing plate or something. He didn't wanna attempt for fear of messin up my car. So, my question is this. Does this sound like a bearing plate problem? And, if so, how hard of a job would this be and what materials would i need? Any help would be great. My back and sore booty will thank you.

A popping sound from that area could be a bad ball joint. Seeing the year of the car and assuming that you probably have a decent amount of miles on it, I would start there. They are simple to change and will hopefully eliminate the irritation.

I appreciate your help, but I think I'm on step ahead of you. As you said, there are 187,000 miles on my car. and i've already replaced the entire front ball joint and lower control arm and all that. I guess i'm just gonna have to change it all out and see what happens.

      thanks.

IF the front strut was overtightened, it can and will make a popping sound - you might want to check that.

From your post about the ball joint, it sounds like you changed the LOWER joint....was the upper one changed also?
