Does anyone know how much it costs to chrome a set of 4 rims? I think I might do this instead of getting new rims since I can use the same tires and I like the shape of my rims right now.. any clues or any answers?

I'll just answer myself... after a little research found...

Face Chrome only, up to 16" $89.00 ea.
Full Chrome including windows:
Up to 16" up to 9 1/2" wide $109.00ea.
up to 17" 9 1/2" wide $129.00 ea.
up to 11" $139.00
up to 18" 9 1/2" wide $149
add $20.00 to every extra inch in diameter.

Price... plus shipping, add $85 for ground shipping and handling. Insured slightly higher. (contiguous 48 states only) Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico CALL for rates.

That's the price on a website.. not too shabby. I think I'm going with that, anything I should be aware of before doing something like that?

Well after this you are gonna wish you lived where I do. I had been wanting to do the same thing..chrome my OEM rims. There's this guy that has a local shop and he told me he would charge me $200 bucks for all 4! And thats a full chroming, inside out. I know he is reliable because he is done some work for my friends. Just the other day I ran into a friend of mine who had some work done for him, but i hadnt seen him like in 2 years..but his rims still looked great. anyways this guy does alot of work for Peterbilt(the semi co.). He chromes all the semi rims and pipes and stuff like that. So I will eventually have it done later.

Forgive my ignorance, but what kind of shop would do this?

A chroming shop I guess! Some sort of machine shop type of thing. All I know is this guy will do it at his shop.

How about painting rims? I know some folks have busted out the gloss black and made nice black wheels ... I might bust out the gloss white and they would match the rest of my car ... or should I just do the pro thing and have them powdercoated?

Well was it a project you planned on doing yourself?!? It really depends on your budget. And as long as the paint you use wont fade and become dull and rough.

I want chrome too, i was looking on rksport and they have my rims on there for the camaro's and they had them chrome plated for sale. it doesn't sound right though cause they want you to pay 600 for the wheels and a 500 core charge they will ship you the new wheels you put them on your car and send them the old ones and they will give you your 500 back for the old rims so it's like paying a 100 for chroming and shipping and handling. anyone see this or bought them from them??? please let me know

Yeah I saw that on RK also, but it seemed like too much trouble. Dont you like have to pay the shipping to send your own rims to them to supposedly get the refund.

yeah, you have to pay like 1100 starting out just to get the rims and send them your old ones and "supposedly" they will refund you 500?
sounds like to me
