  • Any Reccomendations on Sail speakers?

So I am looking at replacing my sail speaker(s) with some that actually well, exist (my drivers side one rattles, the passengers side one.. doesn't exist) I have the monsoon system on a 2000 Firebird

does anyone have any recommendations / opinions on the ones below?

Kee Audio has some good replacement options. You should check out their lineup and see what they have to offer.

I use Polk on my car, db6501 in the back w/o tweeters, and the db651s up front. They sound pretty good.

i've got some of the audiopipe subs and they give much better bass than the factory ones (granted that isn't too much, but good enough for me). i'm very happy with them and ian is a great guy.

I cut and filled in the sails with dynamatt and installed Kicker 3 way 6 X 9's , had to cut for the magnet to fit in and then sealed around the speaker. So far they are good for mids and highs, since I also have a 1" tweeter installed next to it also, and the fronts are infinity Kappa 6 1/2 3 way speakers and where the door lock /window controls switches were I installed 1" Kicker titantuim speaker all have crossovers and power by Boston Acustics GT42 amp with its own built in crossovers and gain 900 RMS total. Also have a 10" Subthump box with a Alpine Type X sub powered by a PPI 2300am amp so it gets about 600-700 RMS to each coil, overall the sound is great, nice and clean. Not too much bass and the mids and highs don't over take the bass. The single 10" though will over take the highs if the sub control is turned up too much. I can't believe the 1 10" can put out so much bass sometimes. I thought about getting another one for the passenger side but I think it would be too much, since I'm not into having too much bass anymore. So you can put just about anything in the sails, just have to watch the depth, I wanted more mids/highs since the sub puts out enough bass, so just figure out what style of music you listen too most and make a budget then go from there. Good luck.

bigairboarder44 did you have to modify the audiopipe speakers at all to fit? or just was it as simple as rewiring the harness and screwing them in?

Well I don't have any recommendations yet...but I just pought a pair of pyle pro's for sixty bucks brand new. The sail speakers in the monsoon systems are mid subs. I almost made the mistake of getting the wrong speakers. I'll post to let you know how they go in and sound : )

nope, take the old ones out, rewire (but don't cut the wires, just use the existing stuff with the connections), then pop em back in. it took me about half an hour to do at nine at night so it was pitch black and i could barely see lol.

check these out. Suposed to be good and are on special right now at only 40$ each. I installed Mach5 6.5 in my car but they don't seem to be available anymore. You can also take a look at www.partsexpress.com and get some 6.5 mids from dayton at a great price.

Those are pretty nicely cheap ;)

I may have to splurge, my final sub-woofer died today so i have zero bass

                        so its either these

Edit, after seeing a few reviews of the e3.6 having poor build quality and watching this comparison http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/stereo...omparison.html

I think ill go for the Bazooka's
