Does anyone know why my low oil light may stay on. When I go to start my car it's always on for some reason, but if I go somewhere and then shut off the car and turn it on the light shuts off can anyone tell me what it can be.

Perhaps you are low on oil? Mine works like it's supposed to. If it comes on, I need to add a quart. If I shut the car off after it comes on then crank it back up, it shuts off and stays off for a while. Why? I'm not sure, but make sure you have oil in your engine.

Do you change your oil like your suppose to?

It sounds like oil pressure sensor has gone bad or something

Not the OPS, that's just a sending unit to the dash. There is a seperate plug in the side of the oil pan that determines if there is enough oil in the engine.

Add a quart of oil and the light will go out.

Then find out where your oil went.

                    Re: Low oil light

When my low oil light came on and off at random times, it ended up being that my sensor was bad, because I was not losing any oil. I bought a new one from GM for $30. That fixed the problem...
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

OK I'll check out the sensor. To see if it's broken.

                        meh, just program it out
currently not working electronics on my car:
Seat belt light (cut the wire)
3rd brake light (cut the wire)
gas gauge (well its a 1/4 off.. when im at half, im at 1/4 of a tank)
2nd cigarrette lighter (cant find the damn wire that plugs into it)
                        High Beams (switch isnt connected)
turn signals (left is out, balast that holds the lightbulb is ****ed up, blinker relay thing doesnt work so right turn signal just stays on when activated)
                        Daytime running lights (lazy)
headlights (they work, but automatically go on when parking brake is de-activated which is cool as hell)
speedometer (off by 10mph due to 3.73)

                        thats it :P.. for now

Yeah, it should be stuck in the side of your oil pan. The one by the filter is for pressure.

Glad to find out that it when it goes, it turns on the dash light. I'd hate to find out the sensor was bad and didn't turn on the light. Good job GM.
