Well, I put in my Compcamps GT2 cam in my 96' 3.8 camaro. Problem is, im throwing a 0300 code (misfire) because it idles so low the computer thinks its misfiring. Where is a good place to get a chip / computer for my car? anyone know one off the top of your head?

I would just buy HPTuners, you can adjust it indefinately that way.

If you read the info about that cam on zzperformance.com, it warns about that code. It also says that it is not effecting performance so its not too big of a deal.

How difficult was it to install that cam?

To be honest, really hard. The most difficult cam install ive ever done. Total of around 13 hours.

              Re: Cam problem.

You can't tune a '96 PCM. You'll need to find a '97 PCM first, then either send that off to be flashed or buy the HP Tuners software (which also requires a laptop or PC to connect to the car) so that you can tune it yourself.

I would recommend contacting Texas-Speed, Wester's or PCMforLess and ask about a custom tune for your cam.

I spoke to Texas-Speed on the phone just yesterday, and they said they'd have no problem flashing and programming a '96 camaro PCM. Which is probally what I intend to do.

you can buy a programer for a 96 from DHP, i did once i cammed the motor and got the p0300 code works purfectly fine and now i can use it to tune for my sc

the thing with 95-96pcms is that they do not have as much memory so they cannot have as many settings for transmission and cannot store mutiple files to switch between

you can get a 97pcm and swap it in and program it also
