  • Installed The Digital Hoserpower Tune, Camaro Wont Start

I've got a 1999 Automatic V6 Camaro. I just bought a spare PCM from a junkyard since my stock bin file could never be unlocked. I did the VIN maintenance and changed the VIN on the junkyard PCM to match my stock one. I went ahead and did a read of the junkyard PCM just in case I would need the file, and I got the VIN of the junkyard PCM too while I was at it. Then I uploaded the 1.5 .bin file. After the write was complete, I waited a few minutes and tried to start the car. As I turned the key to "run" the gages started bouncing. The Tach went from 0-250 RPM, and the Speedo jumped from 0-5mph. I cycled the key on and off a few times and the gages still bounced. I tried to start the car, but it did nothing but crank. After a few attempts and waiting my trip meter jumped from 0.0 to 0.1 miles. I need help please.

What .bin file did you use? I didn't even realize DHP had a .bin for us.

You may need to do a case learn, but the gauges shouldn't act weird like that.

Did you save the old bin so that you could try the stock one?

Charles worked up a bin for me. I saved my original stock bin, but DHP couldn't "unlock" it. So he just made one up for me cause they couldn't edit the stock one. I also saved the junkyard PCM stock tune and VIN number too. Problem is, I tihnk I have to send bin files to DHP to be unlocked. This is part of the reason I got a spare PCM, so I would be able to swap my stock one back in with no problems.

do you have the tuner or do you send it in each time? If you have the tuner, and the tranny from the junkyard one is the same as yours just load the stock junkyard bin back onto it.

I have the tuner. I don't know for sure if the one from the junkyard was an automatic or not. They don't allow people in their yard. They pull the parts. I guess I could see if DHP will decrypt my junkyard pcm's stock file and then upload it back to the junkyard pcm. Then see if it matches my tranny. Problem is, my car runs really well right now, and I really don't want to mess with my stock PCM if I don't HAVE to. That's why I'm still hoping for some kind solution.

well look at the stock junkyard bin and look at the tranny settings, you don't need to put it back onto the pcm to view it (I have hp tuners though, might be different for you).
