    Is it necessary to have a BCM to get a 3.8 to run?

    I've done a lot of searching and have not found clear answers to these questions:

    1. Does anyone sell a device that will send the fuel enable signal to the PCM if you don't have a BCM?

    2. Correct me if I'm wrong but there are two ways to get the engine to run. Reprogram the PCM or run a BCM (of course dealing with the VATS issue).

    you can have the VATS protocals removed with programing. but the BCM controls many things. Lights, alarms, ect ect. why would you want to remove it?

      You definitely do not need one, as I dont. ;)

      I bought a vats box from painless wiring for an lt1 I believe. It was like 50 bucks. Two years of driving and no problems. [img]smile.gif[/img]

        The BCM is required to get it to run. There is no way around it. The BCM has more parimeters that attach the PCM than just VATS.

          All my 96 needed from the bcm to run was the vats enable signal which is now simulated from bypass I bought from painless.
