  • 1st gear mph spark limiter?

    Browsing hptuners mainly at.

    EDIT>ENGINE>SPARKADVANCE

I noticed the spark limiter, has a setting for 5975.

but then I also noticed a table for Spark Limiter MPH vs. Gear.

I see that it has 1st gear listed at 35 mph.

then the rest of the values are at 140 for each other gear.

My question is I noticed that it seems like the rev limiter kicks in quicker in 1st gear then othe r gears, I assume that maybe it was just bad tach lag. Is it possible that its just kicking in at 35 mph?

Or is this something that just doesn't affect me because I have a 5-speed and I am barking up a tree.

When I get time later I'll fool around logging and see what happens.

I raised that limiter to 45. Give it a try.

I will... also might set it to like 15 mph and see what it does.

maybe its a failsafe thing for 5-speeds?

pulls timing on the 1-2 shift, when its reved out hard?

I think it might be because of the 5 speed so you don't mess something up to easily or something while shifting

Did you do this to see when it actually kicks in?

Interesting....mine (stock) is set as follows:

                  60.5, 60.5, 96, 114.5, 116.5.

Wonder if it's a coincidence that I just happen to trap at 96 in 3rd?

I don't think it has anything to do with shifting....you could be 5 mph below that speed and it wouldn't have any effect. If it was for shifting, it should be related to RPM, not speed.

                    I'll try it someday.

Little G looked into that a bit. Since he wanted like 5k launches, not sure if he figured it out.
