  • i have a question

    what does this light do?

the bulbs are burnt out on both sides and i tried replacing one with a new bulb and it still didn't work.
what are some common problem spots that i can check to get them working again.

i cant figure out what it does in the first place!

    thanks,
    colin

thats what I thought until you found random light in there. I suppose you've eliminated brakes and turn signals then?

Yep. They're just stand-alone lights that come on at night.

I just did a conversion to LEDs over the weekend and the problem (these are the same as the lower rear side markers) is that the contacts tend to corrode and no longer work. They're pretty cheap to replace. I picked up a few at autozone, figuring I'd find more like the first (and was correct). Yeah, they fill out the rears at night with the running lights.

I'll try and get a couple over this weekend and put them up. All I did, really, was find a few 39-led bulbs for the signals, 57s for the backup lamps and 19s for the outside markers. Oddly enough, they went in without the need for any resistors. They blink just fine, could be that I still have incandescents up front.

without resistors i doubt they'll last long

LED's don't like a whole lot of voltage.
