alt. question

im putting a system in my car, and i noticed that even with my car running the interior lights still dulled when the base hit

mind you nothing was "tuned" everything was just thrown in to see if it worked

if this is the case after everything is looking good, should i buy a new alternator?

i dont plan on blasting my music everywhere i go, so its not like this is going to be happening 100% of the time

what do you guys think?

i have the same issue, but its been like that for quite a while now, no negative effects that i can tell and i don't think a new alternator would fix your issue anyways...its still probably working fine.

High output alternator would help. I'd recommend doing "The Big 3" Upgrade first; search for it, it's just replacing 3 wires with bigger ones. I just added a 8AWG wire from my alt to the accessory terminal on the passenger's side and now my lights don't dim anymore :). Doing the Big 3 is probably all you need.
