    Re: 10 inch sub

If it is more appearance, the 10 inch 300-watt Alpine Type-S looks pretty good and doesn't cost much. I have one in a stealth box and it's not that loud, but sounds clean.

        Re: 10 inch sub

Please note that the subwoofer will not sound nearly as loud as if it were back under the hatch. It's been proven time after time. Further to the rear, louder the bump. Now then, I realize you're not going for volume. So this may not even matter to you.

Before you buy a particular model subwoofer, we need to know what amp you plan on using to push it. For example, there is several versions of the Type-S. 1042D and 1022D. Dual 4 ohm and dual 2 ohm respectively. Which one do you want? We'll see.:)

If you're going for looks, there are those subs at Wal-Mart with the spinners on them.

Haha, I'm just kidding. I'll update this post with my recommendations after I get home from work...

I figured that. But we need to know what amp you plan on using with it. An exact model number would be best.

                  Re: 10 inch sub

Let me get this right. You just want to put a 10" sub, in a box, on your back seat delete. No special amps, just something to run it.
You don't want a full blown back hatch, drop in the trunk system.

O.K. What is your C.D. player? Do you know if it has a sub outlet ?

Kristen, part 2 of my reply.
A good option, if you want to go cheap, is a powered sub. Easier to install, less parts, more compact.
onlinecarstereo.com has these options for you, they are good people.
For flat & compact, Clarion 7" powered subwoofer for $136. Model # SRV303.
Also in the flat & compact they have a Kenwood KSC-SW1 that is a 61/2in.
These are only about 4in high. but give good base to rock & roll
You said you just want some base, these would work.

If you want some thump, they have the Kenwood 10" 200W for $193.
This one is in a bigger box that is about 12x12x12.

Hooking them up is another thing, you may have a sub outlet on your radio, that would be easy.

If you get something like one of these powered systems, Circuit city could put it in for like $50.

This is just the low price option.
                    :wavey:
Hope this helps, good luck, Ricky B.

this amp can be wired at 2ohm load with 300 rms which is perfect for alpine type s sub..... just make sure you buy the Dual voice coil (4ohm + 4ohm) type s sub , like this one

Ummm, I thinks she just wants a low profile sub for a little kick. Not a full blown woofer system.
