  • HU HELP!!!!

Tomorrow im helping a a friend put a new headunit in his transam with monsoon. I know the monsoon headunit is screwy, and i was wondering what all is involved in putting in a new aftermarket HU? I have heard many different things, like you gotta bypass the amp, and stuff like that. The guy at Best Buy even told him not to buy it cause its not possible to put it into a trans am with monsoon. I know this is not true, but i dont know what i need to do to make it work. My firebird has monsoon also, and i've added subs using a PAC-OEM1, so i know how to get the HU out and stuff like that, I just dont know where to go from there??? Can I get some help from my fellow f-body brothers??? ---->thanks

I can tell you how to take your HU out of a Camaro, I'm sure it's similar to the firebird. But I have no clue about what you need to do with the Monsoon :( .
To take the HU out, you need to unscrew the panel under the steering wheel. Then you unscew the trim panel for the radio. You need to open the glove box to get the other 2 or 3? screws. I think you just need 8mm socket and a philips head screw driver. I wish I could help you with the Monsoon.

The PAC OEM1 is supposed to allow an aftermarket head unit to be used and still allow the whole monsoon system to work.

The PAC-OEM1 only works on firebirds up to 97 when changing the headunit. They dont have one yet for newer ones. They make the adapter to add another amp to 98 and newer ones, but not to change the headuit. If you are dont know what im talking about, the website is www.go2pac.com.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
