  • question on wiring an amp/sub to the monsoon system.

i want more bass with the monsoon system. i can just use a line out converter to tap into the speaker wires, then use a patch cable to go to the amp correct? no stra7048adapters or anything needed?

    That's it.

Some amps have high level inputs that you can hook the speaker wires straight to so you get the signal going to your amp.

What kinda amp/subs are you looking at?

I had to bypass my monsoon system when I upgraded my stereo system. I couldn't find the dayum monsoon amp.

You can use the speaker wires though... just splice it and hook it up to your new amps high level inputs, or buy a high level adapter... then u can still keep the Monsoon system.

I did that when I had my stock tape deck.

All you need to do is splice your rear speaker's wires (4 inch speakers with the seperate tweeters) and hook that up to the high level adapters/high level inputs on your aftermarket amp...

They must put the Monsoon amp somewhere accessible... anyone know?

My car is pre-Monsoon, but I hear the amp is located behind the plastic panel in front of the spare tire. Can anyone confirm that?

it depends on what year you have...

for the 2000's with monsoon I know that the amp is in the right rear quarter panel next to the power antenna motor

Yes, the monsoon amp is located in the spare tire well. Its kind of hard to see but its behind the spare. All you see is a peice of black plastic. The amp is on the back of this piece. As far as adding another amp to the monsoon system-the easiest and safest way in my opinion is to use a PAC OEM-1. You can get one at this link http://www.affsave.com/pac.htm It is completely plug and play which means no splicing wires and no guesswork. It connects directly to the stock HU and gives you two sets of female RCA outputs as well as a turn-on lead. It is a little more costly but well worth it I think. You can also use this adapter to replace the stock HU and keep the monsoon system. Hope this helps.
