  • Which amp to buy?

I have a pair of 12" kicker comp vr's in my bird, and i used to have a memphis st 500d amp that would make them pound like crazy. However my amp did go out (because my mechanic somehow ended up killing my battery then tried recharging which blew out the amp) and i was going to buy the same one, however there's one on ebay, its the same exact type but its 1000 watts (the memphis st 1000d amp). Does anyone know if this one would be too much power (specs:300 watts x 1 at 4 ohms, 600 watts x 1 at 2 ohms, Power rating: 1,100 watts x 1 at 1 ohmm, Damping Factor >300, Input sensitivity: 150mV - 3V, Crossover: 30 Hz - 250 Hz, Subsonic Filter: 20Hz - 50Hz, Crossover and filter slope: 18 dB per octive) for my speakers, or if it'd make them pound harder? the auction ends tonight so any feedback would be appreciated

Maybe I'm posting too late but..... it depends on how you are going to have your subs wired to the amp. What is the impedence of the sub's voice coils? IE dual 2 ohm, single 4 ohm, etc. Because if you are going to run them in 2 ohm mode, then you should be fine. And even if you plan to run in 1 ohm mode, keep the gain low and you will be fine. You'll have plenty of headroom! Oh, and make your mechanic pay for it!!!

      Building the Tom Henry RS
Part 4: Suspension Mods, Tires, Wheels, Headers and other Cool Stuff.
      By: Hib Halverson

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
