what will cut a 4 gauge wire and how much will i expect to pay for this tool

use an exacto knife and just cut around the plastic part. *shrug* worked for my 0/1 gaugeDave:

I used a pair of dykes to cut my 1/0. Took a couple chomps, but it worked.
Although a vise will work, there's actually a tool for crimping very large connections. Just looks like a huge crimping tool with long a$$ handles.... [img]smile.gif[/img] ... I'm positive any install shop will have them. Probably would crimp them for you for free, unless they're total a$$es. If all else fails, (or even if it doesn't) ...solder.Comment

Go to Radio Shack and buy a good set of wire cutters for $5.00. They may be designed for smaller gauge wire, but I haven't had any probles getting mine to cut through the big stuff.1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf. Package, iRotor Drilled & Slotted Brakes, Bilstien Shocks, Custom drive shaft, K&N Filter, & Mobil 1 synthetic. 202+K miles and still drives like new.<br />-If you can\'t stomp \'em in the straights, kill \'em in the corners...Comment

As far as crimping the connection, separate only as many wire strands as will fit into your connector and cut off the excess. (It doesn't make sense to try to force too many wires onto the connector because this won't actually improve the connection's ability to flow current. It just makes an ugly connection.) Finish the connection by sealing the connector with heat-shrink tubing. If you want to make the connection doubly secure, solder the wire to the crimped connector before you heat-shrink it. If you are careful, you will have a VERY solid connection that'll look pretty trick too.
I can't over emphasize making sure that these connections are solid. The last thing you want is for a 4 gauge connection straight to your battery to come loose and start sparking against your amp or car body. (Trust me, it is not fun.)

wire cutter/strippers: fleetwood rv brand. god i love my job.
for crimping....i know your all gonna laugh at me but it was the only thing i could find at the time. 1/0 wire and connectors to fit them, i used......a hammer and after 1 solid hit me and a buddy couldnt seperate them even in a tugging contest.I will take on all comers...or come on all takers!!! Whichever you prefer.Comment

get one that will cut through a 26pair core, it will go through a 0/1 gauge like butter.

Went ahead and moved my starter wire from the back, to the front again since it had no effect on my drain on the battery. Also made me nervous driving...2 weeks ago -

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...02-07-2020, 10:30 PM
