i'm gonna be trying to install a pair of infinity 6-1/2 3 ways in the back seat of my firebird today. they came with crossovers, each about 2" x 1", not that big. should i mount them somewhere behind the speaker grille wherever they will fit, or is there a certain place i should put it? also, how should i mount it? thanks for any info

it doesnt matter where you put them, behind the grill, back behind the head unit... where ever they'll fit.

distance can matter when it comes to distortion from say engine noise, idealy, they can be put anywhere, but you run the risk of the interference
so just keep them within reason.

Have you actually heard of noise issues entering on the amplified side of the amp signal? It can be an issue when dealing with RCA's and line-level signals, I just hadn't experienced any trouble with speaker level signals. I have run speaker wires right along side the main power wire from the amp to the front speakers and never had any trouble.

almost any crossovers that I have seen will fit perfectly BEHIND the arm rest on your doors. Just take off the panels and pull the jute (that carpet sound deadening stuff) away and you'll see a big gaping hole where the arm rest is. Cross overs will fit great there.
