• Amp really necessary???

I posted about a set up that I was looking to get installed tommorrow...but not they are telling me that I will need an amp( namely a $400 Alpine amp to get the most out of the speakers). I think it is the V340 amp or something like that. The set up that I am talking about is on a post that I made on the 24th. (just a few below this one) If you don't wanna take the time to scroll its All Alpine type-R's speakers and an Alpine deck. Thanks for the input.

p.s. Will an MTX amp do the job also? I know their subs are good but what about the amps? I don't know jack about amps, or sound systems for that matter. Thanks again.

You don't NEED an amp...... but just like they said "to get the most out of your speakers". If you don't have the money, don't get it. You can power them off the CD player for now and then buy an amp whenever you get the extra cash. And MTX makes good amps.... better then their subs IMO.

You'd better get an amp. I think you'll be pretty disappointed by the sound if you don't get one. You don't need some $400 expensive piece of Alpine equipment, just get whatever amp you want that fits your price range. Remember though: you can always add an amp at any later date if you want to see what it's like without it first.

Is this ikesound.com really as good as it sounds????? The prices are like half of what I was expecting to pay almost from circuit city, if this is true then hot damn!! :D

First off, dont buy car audio at Circuit City or any place like that, they are so dumb, usually they know just as much as the average joe and just talk out of their a** and stuff.

But (here it comes) I agree with the guy when he said you need an amp. It all depends on what you want out of your stereo. It will sound just fine without an amp, but if you want it to sound good...then go for the amp.

Like the camarokid said before, you can always add an amp later. So thats what I'd do, get the speakers, and if you are not totally satisfied, then add an amp.

1st off Circut city is the man =) Ive made freidns with the ppl that work there and they do good work for me . ( on other peoples cars ) I do my own. But: Id say, I didnt see ur setup, but you probly will need an amp " To get the most out of your speakers" Do not confuse what Im saying. You definitly dont need an amp for the speakers. BUT U do need an amp to get " The most " out of them ( Usually ) Especially if they are rated at taking more power than your deck puts out which most do by far -.

Alpine SPR-174A
Alpine SPR-694A
Alpine CDA-7893
Alpine MRV-F340

I'll pick up a sub and amp for the final touches after I hear it first... don't know how much bass I reallly want yet. Thanks again.

Although I don't have alpine products right now, I would definately consider buying their products. My girlfriend has the $199 alpine deck off of crutchfield and we both love it. They have a lot of features and a good signal-to-noise ratio(105 on most decks). I currently have punch hx 2's in the back with an mtx 775 amp runnin them. I am very happy with their performance. I've never had a problem with either of them.
