• Starting New Box Tomorrow...

I have a single 10'' fosgate HE2 which will be ran off a Fosgate 360@2. This will be a single sub setup so i want it to be loud as possible.

My plans are to build a box on the rear deck, here is a picture to explain what i am talking about i want to build a box where the blue outline is ==> http://www.porteightyhosting.com/upl...wboxcamaro.JPG

What i want to do is down fire the sub and maybe face the port towards the top towards the glass of the hatch.

Will this work out? Or should i just completely rething my design?

You need to keep your port on the same plane as your subwoofer. With the port on the rear, I do believe you'll be out of phase to some degree. Not necessarily 180 degrees, but some amount depending on how far apart the port and sub are. I'm sure there is some adjustments you could make to allow this to work, but I'm having the darnest time finding them.....

well this is going in my black camaro, since its my daily driver i just need something simple and something that doesnt take up a lot of space.

Also something that if it gets jacked i wouldnt really care.

Cost so far --->

Alpine HU $ 50
10'' HE2 Sub $ free
Fosgate 360@2 $ 35
8 gauge kit $ 5

so total cost so far less than $90

Just a thought. I have the dimensions somewhere, then you can just add a little length to the side to add a port.

95 DG, thats a nice box i bet it hits hard cause the waves just bounce off the hatch and travel through the car.

But the deal is that it sits in the wheel well, and i have T Tops so i NEED to keep that T top space.

to build a box properly you have to look at the recommended specifications of the speaker itself. there will be a specific minimum and maximum box volume size for both ported and sealed enclosures. If you are porting the box then there will also be recommended frequencies to tune the box to depending on you musical preference. Once you decide what size of a box you want i have a program that will calulate port size and lenth to tune your box to the proper frequency. This will help you get the most performance and the best sound quality possible out of your sub.

if you can plug this in to the program i would greatly apprecfiate it man.

box size is 1 cu ft

im going with a ported enclosure

i will tune it to 35hz

and again i want to go with a square port not a round one.

The sub calls for a round port that measures 3''x13.25''

I do believe this is your manual? The dual 4 ohm version? Is that 1 cuft after subwoofer AND port displacement? If so, the manual is suggesting around a 35Hz tune. Just curious, why the rectangle port over the circle? No real reason, just wondering why you specified that. Well, 1 cube net w/35Hz tune, I suggest a 4" X 2.5" X 19.5" port. Anyone else get similar numbers?

96bird its this one..

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...oofers_MAN.pdf

Yes dual 4 ohm version. I want to go with a square port so i can mirror the port and i like the way a square port looks over a circle port.

Plus i dont want to spend $20 on an aero port.

And you see the problem is if the port is going to be 19.5'' long i would have to put it on the side of the box, because the box not even that deep its more like 6 or 7 inches.

Is there a way to make the opening larger and shorten the length? and still keep the 35hz tunning?

Sorry for the confustion, as this is the first time i ever make a ported box, usually i just make a simple sealed.

If the slot port length is longer then the depth of the box then the port is angled and run along the back of the box. Ill take a look at your specs and run the numbers in the morning when i have more time

this is what my box looks like

the 9'' part will go up against the seat, but the sub will be more to one side and not in the middle, and the port will be on the opposite side of the sub.

95DG, did you build that box yourself? Do you have the dimensions please? I assume that is a 10" woofer in there?
Thanks
