I have had a Pioneer DEH-P825 in my car since 1997. I have had it skip on me twice in that period of time. Both were over pretty severe breaks in the road. I can go over railroad tracks, etc with ease. So my experience has been quite good. I bought it from a friend used, so it is actual a year older than that. Has held up great. Pre-out voltage sucks, but most radios that old do

I put a Pioneer DEH-P6000 in my brother's car 3 years ago. He hasn't complained about skipping at all. That radio has far more acceptable pre-out voltage too. He did have the lettering on one of the volume buttons rub off, but Pioneer isn't using that style button anymore, so that concern may not apply to your radio.

    Hope that helps a bit

I've had mine for over a year now with absolutely no skips. It's held up great. I've been eyeing that 8400 as well, very nice. If only I had the money for it...

I've had two pioneer units, before i was converted to Eclipse, and I never had a problem with my pioneer's skipping.

Hey, V6Maro!! What set-up did you have when you had the back seat out? Got any pics? Know anybody who does have pics of a similar set-up?
