• Remote wire for Monsoon 1998 Camaro

I believe that the +12 V Ignition wire from the Monsoon is a Yellow wire (#9) on the factory harness, which can be used for the remote turn-on for the amp. I found several links citing this, one for a camaro (below) and one for a firebird (not listed). Please correct me if I am wrong, since I haven't got that far on the install of my amp to my Monsoon Unit. In one or two days it will be done, so I will update and tell what happened.

    yes, you can use

    9......................Yellow..................... 12V Ignition

as the remote turn on. That will make sure your amp is not on unless you have the stereo (Actually the accessories in the car) turned on.

Well, I finished wiring everything up today... BUT MY AMP WILL NOT TURN ON. Power is coming from both the Battery and Remote wire becuase I checked both of them, but the amp is not turning on whenever I turn the stereo! Wondering if the yellow wire is the wrong one, or what else it could be. The amp is fairly new and I have had it working before, so I know that isn't the problem. SOMEONE HELP!!!!!

First things to check are the ground wire. Make sure it is totally touching BARE metal, no paint at all. Second, make sure the fuse is not blown. If that doesn't work then you'll have to retrace the install and check it point by point.

OK something is not right obviously, I discovered that everytime I hook up the power, I keep blowing fuses. I hooked up the ground, then the power, then the remote, I have blown eight fuses on my amp so far. What is wrong?

Make sure the fuse size is the correct size. If it is to small of a fuse it will keep blowing just like you said.

Well after about 30 minutes I found the problem. The speaker level to RCA adapter had 5 bare wires, four for the speakers, and one wire i ASSUMED to be for +12V power source. Well it turns out that it is NOT for power. I had my remote wiring running to the amp and also to the adapter wire. I removed it and it works without any power. That seems strange, but I though most adapters with a variable gains used a power source. Apparently not, and that is what was causing the blown fuses. My system is up and running NICELY I am very happy. I will add pics to my site tomorrow.
