• Just got done installing sub and amp and.....

as the subject states i just got done installing 1 10" sub and a 250 watt amp the peak power of the sub is 600 watts but i think the system sounds pretty ****ty. I shouldn't be complaining tho since it was free , i got sub for christmas and amp for my birthday (both from parents) and my parents prolly got the cheapest they could find, they got a cheapy $50 speaker from wal-mart
(mom works their so she gets discount, woopdeedoo <--- sarcasm) the sub brand is Roadmaster , model Bassblaster click here to see the POS speaker (i cant find a link for the amp) sometime maybe i will record what it sounds like and put it on a site, i cant really even hear the bass outside the car and it sounds sorta distorted inside ,outside i hear mostly just the main music and no bass, i'm kinda pissed about this , but like i said i shouldn't complain since it was free

Oh man, 600 watts?? That thing looks like it would explode at 200! Wally World used to have a brand called Road Gear made by the same company as Jensen . My Road Gear 12"s cost me like $30, but they don't sound tooo bad for cheap-azz shiz.

You probably need some kind of low-pass filter on their to filter out the highs. I had to hook up a cross-over to my Wally World Jensen amp

You couldn't expect much more from Wal-Mart.

Peak 600W means absolutely nothing, RMS is what counts, and even then the brand means a lot.

I'm not trying to be mean at all, that sucks b/c i know the time it takes to hook all the sh*t up. I just found it funny b/c i always see that stuff in Walmart and ask myself, who in the hell buys that stuff? Figured it would be the parents.

Just save up and replace it yourself later.

i know i shouldn't expect much with it being from wal-mart and all but i dont know what to do cause i dont want to take it out cause i dont know if it would hurt their feelings, but yet i'm embarrassed to use it since it sounds so bad and like i said its free so i HSOULDNT complain but yet i am and i dont want to spend money on stuff right now since i want to save up and get a hood and ground effects kit (if there are any for 92 firebird) and also i want to paint it, and this is a lot to do for a 16 yr old with a crappy job ($6/hr )

Next time you tell your parents that you want stereo equipment, be sure to tell them you want gift certificats.

Don't be too hard on them and let them know you appreciate their efforts. They wouldn't know the difference of what to look for. I'm sure that's what you asked for, and for all they know, they got the right stuff. No need to blow up about the sarcasm and all that, it was free stuff. Take it and learn from it. At least you know what that stuff sounds like so you won't be buying it yourself. You're only 16 $6/hr when you're living at home for free is just about as good as $12 an hour when you have to pay rent.
