is there some type of automatic voltage cutoff switch that i could hardwire to my auxillary power items so the battery wouldnt die again? in example a switch that would shut off when my battery reached down to 10 volts.

I have been looking for the same thing. Neither AutoZone or Radio Shack had anything. They can't be too expensive or hard to wire because most power inverters come with it built in as a feature.

I tried searching the internet, and I only came up with these:

And you might be able to modify this to work:

Crutchfield carries one that lights up, but I don't think it actually cuts off power. Here it is. I think there are some out there that cutoff power..... I'll look around.

with the crutchfiekd thing it wouldnt seem like it would be hard to wire a relay that was always on to the red led positive terminal and when the red led lights up then the relay would engage and disengage the power flow.

ever mind, that would end up in a continuous circle of problems.
when the battery would cut off then the led would shut off and then the relay would open up again allowing power through.......damnit

Ive seen things before that just tell you the voltage, like something you plug into the cig lighter, which could obviously be hard wired...Ive been wanting the same thing fopr a while too....unfortunatley our cars dont have that feature...most other GM's do.. ...I saw something before that read cvoltage and was a thermometer...dunno?

EDIT:
heres a few things that might help...if your good with electronics

well if most other gm;s have that feature then it wouldnt seem like it would be too hard to find the part using a wiring diagram of the car and rip one out of another gm at a junkyard or just order the part.

We have a voltage meter in the instrument cluster if that's what you're talking about. If you want a more accurate one, you could get an aftermarket gauge by autometer. All you have to do is connect it to power and ground and it'll tell you the voltage.

I know that someone has to make them, most new amps will actually turn themselves off if they drop below 10V to protect the amp.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
